Welcome to Scouting and Troop 274, a member of the Boy Scouts of America, National Capital Area Council, Francis Scott Key District.
Troop 274 Mission Statement
The mission of Troop 274 in Frederick, Maryland, is to provide a high quality Boy Scouts of America (BSA) program for boys who are members of the Troop. The Troop exists to build character, foster citizenship, and develop physical and moral fitness, so that the boys will grow to become honorable men, active citizens and community leaders.
The values we strive to instill are found in the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. The means to these ends are the methods of Scouting including: its ideals, patrols, outdoor activity, rank advancement and personal growth, adult association, leadership development, and wearing of the Boy Scout uniform.
Troop 274 is committed to providing a “boy run” program, assisted by adult leaders, and following BSA policies, procedures and practices.
All boys between the ages of 11 and 18, who are willing to live by the Scout Oath and the Scout Law are welcome as members. Troop 274 does not discriminate based upon race, creed, or national origin.
Troop Vision
Troop 274 is a boy run organization passionately devoted to the development of its members. Troop 274 develops boys to become great Americans and community leaders, who will make America a better place. Troop 274 will provide enthusiastic compliance with all BSA policies and procedures, using verbatim compliance as our operating guide. Troop 274 will be a paragon of Boy Scout practice, the envy of other Troops in our District and the National Capital Area Council.
Adult leadership will be fully trained and totally committed to BSA principles embodied in the Scout Law. They will faithfully carry out all BSA policies, procedures and practices.
Troop 274 does things the right way, all of the time, by the book. Troop 274 never cuts corners or compromises its principles.
